Welcome to my Pokémon shrine!

Pokémon Crystal was my first Pokémon game. It was also my introduction to Japanese architecture and culture. I loved the mythology surrounding the legendary Pokémon and how they integrated it into the world. My favorite part of Crystal is probably when I learned you could find Celebi in a little shrine deep in the woods, though I could never get it... That kind of discovery was why I explored my woods! I remember finishing this game with my starter Feraligatr.

My neighbor later gave me the Yellow version. He thought I would have trouble with Brock so he traded me a level 40-50ish Vaporeon too. I loved the interactions you could do with Pikachu! I don't think I ever finished the game... I use to have a fanny pack full of Gameboy games but they got lost or stolen. Yellow was one of the losses. My mom and I think it was one of the kids at the daycare I went to.

When Ruby/Saphire/Emerald came out, I got all of them. I wanted to catch all the Pokémon (little did I know how hard that would actually be). I picked each starter for each game, though Mudkip is my favorite starter in generation 3. I've probably played this generation the most. I definitely finished these games with a level 80 Kyogre and the Rayquaza. I never did catch all the Pokémon though... Maybe one day I'll do it up to this generation.

When I was at my grandma's house, I played Pokémon Colosseum. Because I wasn't at my grandma's all that often, I don't think I ever beat it. But I remember enjoying the different edgier style of the game. I thought the shadow Lugia was so cool! I should play this game and actually beat it sometime...

I got Pokémon Diamond but I didn't get all the way through it. I think my interest in the series waned after that. I tried to get into Alpha Saphire but I had the same problem. There's just other games competing for my time today.

I still enjoy talking about Pokémon today and I follow what Pokémon is doing, though lately I haven't liked what I have seen. I may not be their target audience anymore which is fine! Pokémon has always been about a kid's fantasy anyway. I've grown up!
